Are Audica surround sound systems worth it?

I’m looking to purchase a surround sound system for my home and I was looking into Audica, is this a good brand for the price? If not are there other equivalents that are better?

A Google search seems to show Audica being a UK brand, and a legit one. Their AVS-1 system costs about 1250 Pounds. For that kind of money, you have a lot of brand choices available.
Like Polk, Infinity & JBL, to name but three really good speaker makers.

Can i set my Ipod up to a surround sound system?

I Have a Philips LX3700d surround system, along with the dvd player that hooks up to it. And i was wondering if i could hook my Ipod up to it?
IF i can’t hook it up to my Ipod, can i hook it up to my computer?

The reason is, we’ve just got a new surround sound system in, and i didn’t want to throw the old one awway.
Thanks in advance
I also want to add that the DVD system has a headphone slot, don’t know if that helps?

if your surround sound system has an input, then you could hook up to it.
you will NOT get surround sound out of it, ipods play stereo sound.

you could hook it up to your computer but I do not know why you would want to.
you can just play the same type of music on the computer(MP3s) without it.

what I suggest is you get a set of powered 2.1 computer speakers.
they use the same headphone jack as your ipod.
plug them into your ipod and play it.
this sounds excellent since it will have stereo plus the base from the subwoofer.

Surround sound systems pops loudly when turned on?

When I turn the system on the speakers pop loudly then no sound comes from them. Then I shut it off and turn it back on and no sound comes from the speakers but a humming buzz similar to a ground loop. After the system is shut off and turned back on one more time everything works perfectly with no issue.

I have a magnavox surround sound system.
what is meant by to many amps hooked to the sound system. It is hardwired with a powercord and plugged into a standard power bar

It sounds like it is not grounded properly, are you in an old house or apartment where the wiring is old…you might need a line conditioner too, also it could be the plugs on the equipment are going bad, and may need to be replaced, do you have have a turntable?? Is it grounded properly?? Also do you have any wires attached to the ground on the receiver? Do you have things plugged into the receiver itself? It sounds like some type of grounding problem but it is really hard to tell what exactly without a lot of detailed information.

Can you actually tell the difference in 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound systems?

How much of a difference is there? And if you can tell is the extra $ worth it?

well it all depends on the size of the room. if its a larger room then yes i can tell the difference and like 7.1 better then 5.1, but in a smaller room, then it can be more effort then its worth to get those speakers there.

i would say invest that extra money from the 7.1 system and get the better front speakers for a better sounding 5.1 system.

How can I hook up my Playstation 3 to a surround sound system?

I have an HDTV and a PS3, but what exactly do I need to buy in order to get surround sound for those Blu-Ray movies? All the 5.1 home theater systems I’ve looked at so far have a DVD player included, and I don’t want that.

Also, are there any kind of special cables that I need to buy for the speakers (not the TV, I have HDMI for that)?

you need an optical cable… you could use HDMI if your receiver has a HDMI input..

i have this one… http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7790587
works great, awesome sounds

How do I hook my surround sound system to a basic DVD player?

Right now, I have my surround sound system hooked up to my Xbox 360… but that doesn’t play my burned discs… but my really cheap DVD player reads them… how do I hook up the surround system to the DVD player, do I need a fancy cord? the Xbox came with the cord and all I had to do was plug it in, this is now getting way too complicated for me to figure out. any suggestions would be appreciated, and if you need me to elaborate…. tell me what you need to know.
it is a boston digital surround sound set and a panisonic DVD-S1 player.
where do I get these cables, radio shack?

If you are just playing burned DVD’s, then you can connect RCA cables (red and white) from the output of the DVD player to the input of the receiver.

If you are looking for digital surround sound from movies, you will need a digital cable, coax or optical. If the DVD player is cheap, you might just have coax.

Radio Shack or any other electronic store will have av cables, you only need 2 connectors, red and white, not 3 (red, white and yellow).
