What components make up a home theatre system?

What components make up a home theatre system?
Basic question but have no idea.

Cheers

The one piece everyone seems to forget and and might be the most important piece is a good universal remote control that is well programmed as it makes the system so much easier and more enjoyable to use. I would strongly suggest setting aside a budget of at least $500 to get a decent remote and have it professionally programmed by someone who knows what their doing.

As for the equipment that is required:

Video Source: TV, or projector and screen

Source: Cable or Satelite, Dvd, or Blue-ray player

Speakers: minimum of 5 speakers plus a subwoofer, (left, right, center, two rear surround speakers and a subwoofer)

Amplification & Preamp: Receiver or separates(surround sound preamp, amplifiers to drive all speakers

Seating & popcorn lol

I would strongly suggest to anyone buying a home audio or video system to purchase from your local independent hi-end audio video store as they have better equipment to choose from, they are much more knowledgeable to help you choose the right equipment for your budget and room. Not only are you buying better gear and getting the knowledge and expertise to help you choose the right system but you will need their help with any issues that arise in the future.

And I promise you, it will !

They also know how to install and Program universal remotes correctly

  2. WenwAudiocom Says:

TELEVISION: A regular picture tube, Plasma, Plasma HDTV, LCD, LCD HDTV, or LED HDTV

SOURCE: DVD Player or Blu-Ray Player

AMPLIFICATION: 5.1 Channel Audio/Video Receiver (or 6.1, 7.1, or 7.2 are also common)

SPEAKERS: Mains = 2 Front; Center Channel = 1 Front, Centered; Rear Surrounds = 2 Rear

SUBWOOFER: Powered Subwoofer (commonly placed in one of the front corners of the room)

Then all you would need would be the appriate cabling to hook up all of the home theater components. For more information on placement guidelines, you may reference the following website addresses below…
