I made a video with my daughter (cameraman) and my wife to compare my surround sound system to a headset. Off camera we practiced/trained a bit so that my wife got a feel for what front, right, rear, etc. sound like and then we started recording.

It took me a night or two to get good at identifying footsteps but once you get the feel for it it’s nearly as good as having a constant UAV. I also talk about my experience with Turtle beach X4s, Turtle Beach X41s, and Astros.

While at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, I was invited to hear a demo of Infinite Algorithms, Virtual Surround Sound prototype. Infinite Algorithms Victor Ramamoorthy Founder, CEO/CTO and Martin Zanfino, VP of Marketing were at CES to garner interest by flat panel display manufacturers as well as audio manufacturers with their new product design for what I would describe as a sound-bar. I was excited to be invited to this demo because I got the opportunity to see and hear a new technology before it makes it into a consumer electronics product. Video is truly only half of the TV viewing/movie watching experience—it is convincing and immersive audio that creates a total experience. Over the past few years many sound-bar technologies have promised the ability to recreate an accurate soundstage with full surround sound. This demo was held in the worst possible room for acoustics and it blew me away. The resulting surround sound image was large, wide, crisp and clear. Whether this speaker array finds itself built into a flat panel display or as a standalone speaker, it will be what drives the full a/v experience home. While I was there 30-year audio industry expert, Rick Weisman happened to be listening as well. I got his response on video.
